Hello guys 🙂 I’m sorry I didn’t post here yesterday. I’m trying to stick to a Monday, Wednesday, Friday posting schedule, but last night I wasn’t feeling very well.
I just about summoned the enthusiasm to call an estate agent to register for alerts about houses. But, after that, rather than writing something rubbish on here (just to tick a ‘I posted something’ box), I had a long bath, made some pasta, curled up on the sofa and snuggled down to watch Harry Potter. Because sometimes Monday nights should feel a bit like Friday nights, right!?
Anyway, I have a post lined up for next week about tips and tricks for saving up for a home. But tonight, I thought I’d post something that I’d originally posted on my previous blog. Forgive the fact it’s not ‘new’ content, but it is at least new content around these parts, right? Here it is…
If I were to ask you to tell me about yourself, what would you say?
Would you start with what you do for a living? Would you tell me that you’re a mother, a father, a sibling or a spouse? I’m curious (and actually, it would be really nice if you fancy telling me a bit about yourself in the comment section below) because I think the way we introduce ourselves says a lot about what we value.
To start with my job title shows that I put a lot of weight behind my profession, and I think that’s because I’m still in the ‘pinch me’ phase about being paid to write all day long. There’s more work to be done, but I’m moving in the right direction. Then, I told you what I like to do – the things that make me feel most like me: my healthiest and happiest self.
And there it ends, but truthfully I’m lots more things.
I’m a sister to three brothers, and a daughter to two fantastic parents. I’m a girlfriend to a really lovely honest, observant and quietly confident man. I’m a friend to pretty much everyone. I’m a feminist and a pianist (though never did I say I was a good one) and three years ago I graduated from law school with a 1st class degree. And although I’m struggling to think of any more ‘things’ that I am, I expect I could offer you a hundred further tidbits of information if I thought about it for long enough.
But what’s interesting me at the moment, most of all, is the idea that it’s the insignificant things I could divulge to you that matter the most, because those are the things that help us to really know another person. Here are the smallest and most insignificant details about myself, entrusted to you. 🙂
- The underside of my hair is smoothest, but the top layer is frizzy and turns into corkscrews around my hairline
- I unconsciously scrunch my toes when I’m happy or excited (which is something my boyfriend pointed out to me)
- When I eat dinner, I leave a tiny amount of each ‘thing’ on my plate so that the last mouthful is a combination of every flavour
- ‘Kiss Chase’ used to make my heart thud, and I earnestly never wanted to be caught – my first kiss didn’t happen until I was 12
- One half of my lip sits slightly higher on my face than the other, and one eyebrow is higher too
- I feel more confident holding babies than cats
What about you? What small and seemingly insignificant things are true about yourself that you’d be willing to entrust to me?
